Loch Shieldaig Mooring Association was formed in 1995 and co-ordinates the placement of moorings and payment of the lease fees to the Crown Estate/ agents.

Up to 30 moorings are installed within the area of the lease and recent work by Wallace Stone and Partners indicates that depending on the swinging radius about 40 could be possible. However this would cause redeployment of existing moorings and this figure isn't cognisant of seabed conditions. Further work would be needed to survey existing moorings and depth / seabed condition.

Clearance of the area just north of the Jetty (gone) as shown on the chart opposite was undertaken in 2007. Many old moorings and other debris were removed and it is anticipated that this area is now perfectly acceptable for anchoring. It is still recommended that a tripping line is used.
